LORD OF THE MIND
In Phil. 2:5 Paul said, “ Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus”. This implies that
the Christian’s thinking must be under the control of Christ. “Let this mind be in you” means to have
understanding, to be wise, to direct one’ mind to a thing, to seek or strive for. Paul tried to get men to
bring to bring their thoughts into captivity to Christ. “Casting down imaginations, and every high thing
that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the
obedience of Christ;” 2 Corinthians 10:5
The heart or mind is the control center of life and conduct. Jesus declared the power of
perverted thought to influence action. “For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts,
adulteries, fornications, murders, Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil
eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: All these evil things come from within, and defile the man”. Mark
7:21-23
If Jesus controls one’s life He must, in order to do this, be the Lord (ruler) of the mind. There are
two important characteristics of Christ mind which the Christian must and will have if Jesus is the Lord
of the mind. The Lord had a Humble and Obedient mind. “And being found in fashion as a man, he
humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross”. Philippians 2:8
The Lord will control the life only if He controls the mind.
