Authority for a Synagogue (Steve Klein)
Did the Jews have divine authority for their synagogues? If not, does this mean that the children of God may do things for which they have no authority today? The use that Jesus and His disciples made of synagogues indicates their approval of them. Tradition bound Jews would have been unconcerned about whether or not they had authority for their synagogues, but applying God’s rules for establishing authority, it is plain that there was Old Testament authority for them. There are important implications for us today regarding the need for authority in all that we do. |
